Becoming Like Christ in the Fire - Galatians 6:10

 Scripture:

As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Galatians 6:10

Hi Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what a letter from Paul to the churches today would look like. I imagine him addressing some of the same things he did back then—division, gossip, pride—but maybe with a new urgency, seeing how many churches now are filled with tension and disagreements between brothers and sisters.

That’s why I wanted to pause on this verse in Galatians 6:10 and really reflect on what it means to “do good”—even to those who hurt us. Especially within the church, where we expect safety and love, it can be especially painful when others' words and actions tear us down.

O: Observation
Paul is calling us to a higher standard—one that goes beyond the world’s idea of kindness. “Do good,” he says, not just to those we like or those who treat us well, but to all people—with a special focus on our spiritual family. That tells me that the way we treat each other as believers is vital. Our behavior reflects the heart of Christ.

A: Application
I want to share something personal. There was a season in my life where I had to forgive—every single day. I was surrounded by people, even within the church, who constantly gossiped, judged, and humiliated me. They didn’t even realize how their words and actions were wounding me deeply. Every day, I would carry that pain, but every night and morning I cried out to God, asking Him to heal my heart and help me love them more and more.

And you know what? He did. Not overnight—but day by day, my heart began to shift. God reminded me that walking with Christ isn’t about comfort, it’s about becoming more like Him. And what did Jesus not go through? Slander. Lies. Rejection. Humiliation. And yet, He never stopped loving. If He could endure all of that and still forgive, then through Him, so can I.

It wasn’t easy, but I came out of that season stronger in my faith and closer to God than ever before. I learned what it truly means to walk by faith, not by what others think of me. Doing good doesn’t always mean you’ll get the applause. Sometimes it means obeying quietly, loving deeply, and forgiving endlessly—just like Jesus did.

P: Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for seeing the pain no one else sees. Thank You for walking with me through the moments of humiliation, rejection, and hurt. You know my heart, and You are the one who heals. Lord, help me to continue doing good, even when it’s hard. Teach me to forgive daily, to love deeply, and to walk by faith—not by what others say or do. Thank You for molding me to be more like You. I trust that You are using even this season to grow me and draw me closer to Your heart.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Question:
Is there someone in your life right now that God is asking you to “do good” to, even though it’s hard? How can you reflect the heart of Jesus to them this week?
